Regular Services
The regular Sunday worship service begins at 11:00 a.m. The first part of the service is for families, and an address suited to the children is given during this time. The younger children are welcome to come and sit at the front of the church for this talk. After the children's talk and a benediction, parents take their children to the nursery or the Sunday School. A sermon is given for the adults during the latter half of the service. In order to maintain a reverent sphere of worship for the service, silence is observed in the sanctuary.
Sunday School
The purpose of Sunday School is to familiarize children with the stories of the Bible.
- Nursery - children under age four.
- Primary - children from ages seven through third grade.
- Advanced - children from fourth through sixth grade.
- Seniors - children in grades seven and eight. After eighth grade, young people are expected to remain for the adult portion of the service.
Informal Family Service
This service begins at 9:30 a.m. and is held once a month in the all-purpose room. Dress is less formal, if you wish, and the format of the service includes a greater degree of interaction between the minister and the children.
Holiday Services
Thanksgiving Family Service - the congregation is invited to bring an offering of fruit as a token of thanks. After the opening of the Word, during the second hymn, the people come forward by the center aisle to present fruit to the minister and then return to the pew by the side aisles. One address is given for all; there is no Sunday School and no one on duty in the nursery, although the room is available.
Christmas Tableaux - a worship service of nativity scenes with little movement and no speech presented on the chancel. While a tableau is being shown, a minister reads the story it portrays from the Word. Christmas hymns and special music are included. Following the service, the society holds a Christmas Sing in the all-purpose room.
Christmas Eve - a candlelit service for families, this service has one address for all.
Christmas Day - a regular service, with a children's talk and adult sermon, but there is no one scheduled for Sunday School or nursery.
Palm Sunday - a regular service. You may pick up a palm branch as you enter the church, to be carried forward and laid on the chancel during the first hymn.
Good Friday Evening - is an adult service, with extended lessons from the Easter story and the Holy Supper.
Easter - is a regular service, with nursery and Sunday School scheduled. The congregation is invited to bring an offering of flowers to celebrate the Lord's resurrection. The people may bring flowers forward during the second hymn, as in the Thanksgiving service.
New Church Day (held on the Sunday nearest June 19th) - is a regular service. Following the program, the Pastor presents gifts from the Church to each of the children.
Special Services
Holy Supper
The Communion service is offered four times a year, and takes place at the end of a regular service. Private administration of the Holy Supper is also available at any time by arrangement with a pastor.
Other
Arrangements for Communion, baptisms, confirmations, betrothals, weddings, home dedications and memorial services may be made with the pastors at any time.
Classes
Friday Supper & Class
On most Friday nights between September and May, there is a social supper and doctrinal class held at the church. Supper begins at 7:15 p.m.; doctrinal class about 8:20 p.m. The supper normally costs $3.00 per person.
Mid-Week Classes
Smaller discussion groups are formed at various times throughout the year. They cover a wide variety of topics, including The Lord's Providence, The Ten Commandments, The Lord’s Love and Wisdom, Marriage, or any other topic of interest. You are welcome to join any class currently in progress. If there is not a class presently offered that meets your needs, please talk to the pastors - we would like to accommodate you.
Pastoral Consultations
Pastoral consultations on an individual basis are also available at any time on request. It is helpful to let the pastors know of illness or any situation they should be aware of where a pastoral call might be appreciated.
