Programs and Groups

For Children

Tots Time: Playtime, stories, songs and theme activities for children ages 1-3 and their caregivers, Monday mornings from 9:15 til 11:15.

Playschool: Playtime, stories, songs and theme activities for children ages 3-4, Tuesday through Friday mornings from 9:30 til 11:30.

Sunday School: Two different age groups, grades JK-2 and grades 3-5, meet each Sunday morning during the adult sermon for learning activities. All children are welcome.

Olivet New Church School: The Olivet New Church School is an elementary school, from junior kindergarten through grade 5. Founded in 1893 by the Olivet Church,  it offers a distinctive New Church education in a caring, family-like environment. The school maintains a high teacher/student ratio and fosters a close working relationship between parents and teachers. Facilities include a safe, attractive property, a modern computer lab and a school library. The curriculum conforms to and extends beyond all the Ontario education ministry guidelines, complete with French and Music, as well as many interesting project days, field trips, and other special activities.

For Teens

High Schoolers: Our senior youth group, open to all interested high school students meets Wednesday evenings twice a month (check the calendar) from 5:30-6:15 PM. There are also several special youth group weekend camps with other youth groups and other group events throughout the year.

Taekwondo Class

JOY (Junior Organization of Youth): Our junior youth group, open to all grade 6-8 students from the church and community. The program varies from month to month but includes many regularly scheduled fun events or outings and on Sunday mornings during the adult sermon for discussion.

For Adults

Wednesday Doctrinal Class: A topical lecture, given twice a month usually on the second and fourth Wednesdays throughout the school year by one of the pastors, preceded by a social supper. All members and friends are invited to the suppers as well as the classes. Meal cost is nominal and volunteers to help prepare meals are always welcome. Suppers begin at 6:30 pm, classes begin at 7:30 pm.

Book Study Groups: An informal reading group meeting at 8:00 pm on the first and third Tuesday evenings of each month to discuss Emanuel Swedenborg's famous works.

Women's Group: The Theta Alpha Guild (TAG) is an organization of women who meet several times a year for social activities and discussion and support for New Church Education. They are involved in ongoing service to the church through orgainizing a major gift program for the children of the church, visiting, hospitality, meals, kitchen maintenance and more as well as being involved in several charitable uses outside the church.

Men's Group: The Forward Sons Club meets monthly for a social dinner and a presentation by one of the members. Its mandate is 'to advance, in the light of Divine Revelation, the understanding of truth and its application to life, and thus to develop true masculinity.' As means to that end it works to promote the welfare of the church, the principles and practice of New Church Education and a spirit of male comradeship.
