We are excited about this opportunity to share our church with you and hope that you will decide to join our worship services on Sundays at 10 am in Scottsdale. My name is Rev Michael Cowley and as the pastor of the Phoenix Society I would like to welcome you to our new website. I hope that your initial curiosity about the church and its people will be satisfied. If not satisfied, perhaps piqued enough so that you come join us on Sunday to learn more about the Phoenix Society, the New Church and ultimately the Writings of Swedenborg.

We have Worship Service Each Sunday at 10:00 a.m.

For over 35 years the Phoenix Society has been gathering to worship the Lord Jesus Christ and learn more about the teachings of Swedenborg, whose Writings form the foundation of the teachings of the New Church. The Society provides a friendly community, rich in its traditions of gatherings and family events. In addition we support each of our members and their families in spiritual ways to enhance the quality of life both natural and spiritual.

Every Sunday I provide service to our congregation in which I first read a passage from the Word of the Old and New Testaments. The Word is the book that is composed of the stories from the Bible that were directly inspired by God. After reading a story from the Word, it is then my role to explain the internal meaning of that passage as described in Swedenborg's writings. I have a very personal style that I believe helps people connect the teachings to their everyday lives. I take great care to help my congregation of adults and children understand what I am preaching and its usefulness in their process of spiritual healing and regeneration.

Children are a wonderful gift to us all. We have a special section of our worship service just for children. At times, I will ask the young ones questions about the story they just heard. Other times, I will have them bring flowers or palm branches up to the pulpit to help illustrate activities that had taken place in ancient times. During the adult service, the children are taken to the classroom where they engage in a number of fun and educating activities with our teacher volunteers.

Our congregation is small, though we are a part of the General Church with over 100,000 members world-wide. We offer a close fellowship to newcomers and as individuals we get to know each other in the church. What we offer is a unique spirituality. We have special teachings to assure people about the life of heaven, and more specifically, support for marriages. Also, our detailed doctrines offer those spiritually thirsty to drink from a deep well of spiritual wisdom related to God's Word.
