at the Calgary Project

In addition to the literature, cards, tapes, CDs, videos and other material available through the main pages of this website (see the far right-hand column on your screen), all of which is distributed from our church centre in Bryn Athyn, near Philadelphia, PA, a fine and varied selection of material is available right here in Calgary.

On hand is a large variety of introductory material including pamphlets, videos, books by Swedenborg and what we call "collateral literature." New titles are being aquired regularly for sale or for discounted (or free) distribution, and we also have a fair collection of books in a lending library, from which titles may be borrowed in person or by mail.

We actually import books from several countries so by ordering locally you can avoid any concerns about currency exchange, brokerage fees and import duties. Also, if it's at all related to Swedenborg or the New Church and we don't have it we can get it for you.

Currently we are pleased to offer a very special "deal" on one excellent introductory book about the life after death. It is "Awaken from Death," and is described as "an inspiring description of the soul's journey into spiritual realms upon bodily death." In fact it is a selection of passages from Swedenborg's book, "Heaven and Hell," with an introduction by "near-death experience" writer Kenneth Ring, and a concluding brief account by Dr. James Lawrence about Swedenborg's life and mission. The 120 page paperback is available for only $7.00 CDN, postpaid to any address in Canada.

Another feature while we have a number of copies is the book, "Wings & Roots" by Wilma Wake, subtitled "The New Age and Swedenborg in Dialogue." This 175 page, extensively annotated paperback features an interesting introduction to Swedenborg's influence on what is loosely called "New Age" thought, and goes on to discuss contemporary efforts to capitalize on healing practices suggested in various readings of Swedenborg. It's not for everyone, but at $10.00 post paid in Canada it might be for you!

We also act as a clearing-house for second-hand books, and we presently have an excellent collection of individual titles and whole sets of volumes by Swedenborg in very fine condition - which we generally make available for an appropriate donation to the Project and the cost of postage, if needed.
