Welcome

Welcome to the New Church of Concord website!

Sunday Worship begins every week at 11:00AM. We have a Sunday School program for adults beginning at 10:00AM and running for 45 minutes. There is Sunday School for children during the second half of the worship service.

The New Church of Concord congregation is a vibrant group of people who love the teachings of the New Church. They love the way those teachings help them know their God and live a thoughtful, balanced and caring life. They also rejoice to share what they have found with others!

The New Church is a Christian church. We call it “new” because its outlook is based on a foundation that is different than other Christian churches. It likely will not seem new or different at first. We worship much as others do. We affirm many of the ideas that are important to Christians and to decent people the world over, and that have been important to people from the beginning of human society. For example:

  • There is one God who created us. True and fulfilling purpose in life is found in Him and His love.
  • This God communicates to us in the Bible (“the Word”) His intent and “the way life works.” We can seek and find Him in its pages.

  • All God’s laws hang on two “great commandments”: we are to love God above all and love our neighbor as our self.

  • Loving God and the neighbor mean living rightly – honoring the Ten commandments, and acting sincerely, justly, and faithfully in our daily work, engaging in a life of useful service to others.

  • Those who live well are “saved.” Those who live wickedly are not.

  • We will be judged by how we have lived (seen in the light of what we have known, believed, and intended).

  • Life is eternal. Our life here is a preparation for a fuller life to come.

  • Marriage is sacred. That relationship, and other relationships of love, continue after death.

These simple ideas are taught in the Bible and are shared by people of good will and sound reason everywhere. These are the core of our beliefs.

Our church supports people in understanding and affirming these truths and in living this life. When you attend our worship services, these are what you will hear again and again. And you’ll be surprised and delighted with how alive this simple approach to religion can be.
