Upon them a light has shined.

Behold, the Lord will come with a strong hand...
He will feed His flock like a shepherd;
He will gather the lambs with His arm.

yet out of you shall come forth to Me the One to be ruler in Israel.

The New Testament
John 1:14
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory.
Luke 2:8-20 Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. Then the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger." And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: "Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!" So it was, when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, that the shepherds said to one another, "Let us now go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us." And they came with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the Babe lying in a manger. Now when they had seen Him, they made widely known the saying which was told them concerning this Child. And all those who heard it marveled at those things which were told them by the shepherds.
Luke 1:68,79 "Blessed is the Lord God of Israel, for He has visited and redeemed His people....
To give light to those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death,
to guide our feet into the way of peace."
John 8:12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, "I am the light of the world.
He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life."
Luke 2:30-32 "For my eyes have seen Your salvation
Which You have prepared before the face of all peoples,
A light to bring revelation to the Gentiles,
And the glory of Your people Israel."
Matthew 4:16 "The people who sat in darkness have seen a great light,
And upon those who sat in the region and shadow of death, Light has dawned."
John 12:46 "I have come as a light into the world,
that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness."
John 1:4-6 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.
And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
Matthew 2:6 "But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are not the least among the rulers of Judah;
For out of you shall come a Ruler Who will shepherd My people Israel."
The Heavenly Doctrine
Apocalypse Explained 427:3
To come and see the glory of the Lord, symbolizes to be enlightened in Divine Truth, and thus to experience heavenly joy. For the glory of the Lord symbolizes the Divine Truth, and the illustration and joy which it affords.
Arcana Coelestia 3195:4
The Lord is light, that is, good itself and truth itself, and thus from Him stems all intelligence and wisdom, consequently all salvation.
Apocalypse Explained 678:2,3 "[T]he glory of the Lord" means to enlighten angels and people, and to bestow intelligence and wisdom, and to bless with felicities and delights.... Nevertheless, the Lord cannot give His glory to anyone and fill him with wisdom and blessedness unless he acknowledges and worships the Lord, for it is by this that a person conjoins himself to the Lord by love and faith.
see Apocalypse Revealed 517 Giving glory to God is acknowledging the Lord as the God of heaven and earth.
