Spiritual Parenting Goals

To Give Our Children:

• An ongoing affection and understanding of who the Lord Jesus Christ is in their own lives (see Apocalypse Explained 803).

• An affection for, a knowledge of, and a belief in, the Lord's Word and the ability to read it with understanding and delight (see Divine Providence 172:6).

• A delight in and a knowledge of the reality of the spiritual world and its parts (see Arcana Coelestia 5135:3).

• An affection for and a knowledge of true marriage (see Conjugial Love 49).

• A developing knowledge of how to live a life of charity and morality and opportunities to practice it (see Arcana Coelestia 2831:1 and True Christian Religion 443).

• An affection for and a knowledge of the important role public and private woship play in their lives (see Arcana Coelestia 1798:3).

• An understanding and delight in the forms and uses of prayer (see Arcana Coelestia 5135:3).

• A knowledge of the church, its role in their lives, and an understanding and appreciation for those of the universal church (see Apocalypse Explained 313:3).

• A desire and an ability to spread the good news of the Lord's Word (see Influx 18).

• A sense of their place in the stream of Providence and an awareness of the Lord's continual provision for their needs (see Arcana Coelestia 8455).
