A Very Special Relationship
Rev. Jan Weiss

Everyone of us has relationships with others. We all have a relationshipwith our father and mother. And then we may have a relationship with a younger or older brother or sister In these relationships, in this relatingto others, we begin to express our feelings and thoughts. We learn to talk ourselves, and we learn to invite others to talk to us.

The more you grow up, the wider your circle of relationships becomes. It begins with children and adults in the neighborhood, and later a whole circle is developed when you go to school, and develop relationships with class mates and teachers. There you will have wonderful friendships which you will enjoy and love. But you will also find people who are not nice, helpful and supportive. There you will also find kids and teachers who hurtyour feelings, and sometimes make your life there hard and painful.

Towards all these people you will have all kinds of different feelings and thoughts. Some you will like and treasure. Others you will dislike and try to push out of your mind. Regardless of what you think and feel, these thoughts and feelings will become part of you. You cannot help but have some unkind and even nasty thoughts and feelings, but try very hard to concentrate on the good ones, because these ones are from the Lord.

All the relationships I have talked about only last for a certain amount of time, they are all temporary. But there is one relationship that will not end but will last forever. This relationship the Lord does not want to end, but wants to continue for all time. The Lord does not want you to be alone, but wants you to be with someone else forever. This relationship is a very special one, and it is called marriage.

A marriage is a relationship between a man and a woman who have very special feelings for each other. A man has such special feelings for a woman that he wants to marry her, wants to live with her every day, wants to show her his love in all kinds of ways. The woman also has special feelings for a man, wants to marry her, wants to live with him every day, wants to show him her love in all kinds of ways.

There are many loving actions between married people, between the man and the woman, between a husband and wife. It is important to know that all of these actions are very special, and that they should occur within the marriage, and never outside the marriage.

The greatest present married people can give each other is faithfulness. The Lord asks that we stay true to His command that “what God has joined together, let no man put asunder.” The marriage relationship is holy and must be honored by all people. Faithfulness and commitment in marriage should last forever and so to eternity.

In the true loving marriage of one man and one woman, the Lord gives great blessings of joy and happiness. And the best part of all is that the Lord continues to bless married people forever, as husbands and wives live together forever in heaven.

Amen.
