We beseech You, O Lord,
to breathe into us the desire
of thinking and doing always
such things as are right, that we,
who cannot do any good without You,
may have power in all things
to live according to Your will,
through Your mercy,
O Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen. (General Church Liturgy)
O Lord Jesus Christ,
we pray that You will be present with and guide
all the people of this world with comfort and strength.
We pray for those who are stricken with illness,
for the disposessed in every society,
for those without work, for the poor, the hungry,
and especially the children.
May they all find the strength to continue in a hard world.
We pray, also, Lord, for those who are happy,
those whose lives have provided them with bounty,
for natural comfort is no sin.
Help them continue in their wellbeing,
and fill their hearts with thanks for Your material blessings.
But mostly, Lord, help us to remember
that it is not the circumstances of our lives that are important,
but how we respond to them.
Fill each of us with an increasing desire
to reflect Your Divine love and mercy in all the things we do,
to look upon our neighbors with a true desire
to serve them as You serve us.
And as we do, we can confidently believe
that Your presence will bring the peace and joy for which we long.
Bless us, O Lord, with faith and hope and love.
Amen.
