This commandment asks you to conduct yourself in ways that will bring honor to your parents and also to appreciate the people who have been important influences in your life. Pay them a visit; send them a letter, fax, or e-mail; make a telephone call. Find some way to express your appreciation for the ways they have supported and nurtured you in your spiritual development. Also, in your prayers be sure to thank your heavenly Father for all He has done and continues to do for you. As you let appreciation, gratitude, and thanksgiving be the center of your prayers and your predominant attitude, notice how your "days upon the land" (states of happiness) become longer and more heavenly. Realize that this is a foretaste of the "Promised Land" that God is giving you, even now.
