Day Seven: Resistance to Change
When we decide to make changes in our lives, there may be upset and conflict in our minds. Pharaoh may threaten, rationalize, bargain. When we find this taking place, it is not a sign that something is wrong and we should give up, but that we are right on track. We come to a full realization that there is death in the land of Egypt. We see that we will die spiritually if we remain there. And with this vision of our death in continued captivity, we are finally ready to change. We are ready to leave Egypt and begin the first steps of the journey.
When you decide to make a change in life, begin by quieting your mind in the face of the excuses and challenges that come up. Take a deep breath, calm your thoughts and create a space for the Lord’s loving presence and His loving message to flow in. The Lord will use the struggles in our life for good, but we must first slow down and hear His voice.
Reflections
When you pray, remember to pause and listen for God’s response. Write out a prayer to God. For example, "Lord I need your loving presence with me."
Now take time to write out what God’s response might be. One way to do this is to think of quotations from the Bible that resonate with your situation. For example, "I am with you always."
