I am the true vine, and my Father is the vine dresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit....Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches. One who abides in Me, and I in him or her, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing....By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples....You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you. These things I command you, that you love one another. (John 15:1-2, 4-5, 8, 16-17)

For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works. (Matthew 16:27)

When he hears that, in the New Church, people worship not three different gods, but only One True God, he becomes excited and exclaims, "You mean the One God has three levels, like our body, our soul and our actions?" "Exactly," the church members reply, astounded at his understanding. An hour later, the young man asks for some books from the Writings and says he wants to start coming to church.
