When Jesus walked on earth, many people did not believe that he was God himself. Even his followers were confronted with doubt when he apparently died on the cross. The same experience can be true when we read the Bible. People have a sense that the Bible is sacred, and are faced with doubt when it seems to be dead and irrelevant to their life. Just as Jesus ‘rose again’ the Bible can rise again with new meaning when read in a new light.
