Frequently Asked Questions on Spiritual Community
Q. What is a New Church worship service like?
A. New Church worship services vary in format and style around the
world. Services may include songs, readings from the Word, a sermon,
and the Lord’s prayer (found in Matthew). Some worship services take a
traditional approach with organ music and the use of liturgies. Some worship
services have more contemporary approaches with percussion bands,
enactments and audience participation. Despite the style of worship, you
will find consistency in the message (sermon) being based on the Old and
New Testaments and the Writings of Emanuel Swedenborg. Holy Supper or
Communion is offered occasionally throughout the year. Donation baskets
are often kept at the back of the room for a free’will offering. We invite you
to attend a New Church worship service, find a location near you.
Q. How can I support other people on a spiritual level?
A. So much of life is caught up in the busyness of to-do lists, errands, and
just the general business of living, that we forget or neglect to connect with
people on a deeper level. Take time to ask people meaningful questions
about their lives, their dreams, hopes, fears, etc. Then listen, listen to what
they say and how they say it. It has been said that you feel most loved when
someone truly listens to you.
Q. Can I be a part of the spiritual community if I am not part of a church community?
A. Church communities are not limited to buildings and organization. People who accept you and nurture you in your faith and relationships whether connected to a church organization or not, can make up your spiritual community.
