Lay Leadership

The New Church values its lay leaders because they generously contribute their time and talents in so many areas of church life. Here are some examples of ways to become involved:

  • Start or run a Small Group
  • Start or run a Church Group
  • Participate in Sunday School programs
  • Participate in Pastors Councils
  • Participate in Board and Committee work
  • Participate in various Congregational Ministries (e.g., greeters, service outreach, children and teen ministries, ushers, hospitality, floral arranging, etc.)
  • Participate in the Music Program
  • Develop or become involved in community service
  • Become leaders of support groups serving people such as widows and widowers, adoptive parents, divorcees, etc.
  • Participate in the publication of newsletters or websites for the local congregation
  • Direct and participate in holiday pageants
  • Helping take care of the church environment such as the worship and classroom spaces, gardens and grounds
  • Participate in leading youth programs
  • Organize or participate in church camps and retreats
  • Become a liaison between your congregation and home office through the Ambassador Program

It is the enthusiasm, involvement, and dedication of all people that makes a church a healthy spiritual home.
