Organizational Commitments
Anyone is invited to participate in the worship and the life of the New Church by getting involved with one of our groups or congregations. Adults who have made the commitment to be baptized are invited to join the General Church. After three years of membership, individuals are free to join the General Church Corporation — the organization dealing with financial and legal matters for the denomination.
Particulars of Membership
Members of the General Church are able to vote on important Church matters at church-wide General Assemblies. Members of the General Church may also join a local congregation (although this is not a requirement) and vote in all its proceedings (see below for information on joining).
How to Join
If you have been baptized as a child, you must be 20 years old to join the General Church. Typically, the Secretary of the General Church will send you a letter and registration form on or around your 20th birthday. As a baptized adult, you may join by completing the registration form and mailing it to the Office of the Bishop, PO Box 743, Bryn Athyn, PA, USA 19009-0708. The form is also available from most General Church pastors or by contacting the Secretary of the General Church at the same address, or by e-mail.
