Joining the General Church Corporation

The General Church of the New Jerusalem is also a legally incorporated body in the state of Pennsylvania, for the purpose of holding and managing the physical and financial assets of the Church. It is made up of General Church members who, after three years' participation in the unincorporated Church, have applied for corporation membership.

The board of directors of the General Church Incorporated is nominated and elected from this body. It is the board of directors (under the guidance of the Bishop) that is charged with assuring the legal, financial and business welfare of the General Church.

Benefits

You may participate in the activities of the Corporation by voting on nominated Board members, or other issues presented at the annual Corporation meeting at its annual meeting, or by being nominated to the General Church Board yourself.

Process

Anyone over the age of 21, who has been a member of the unincorporated General Church for three years, can apply to become a member of the incorporated General Church. Local society membership is not a requirement.

Generally, the Secretary of the General Church will send you a letter, a registration form, and a copy of the Corporation's By-Laws around the third anniversary of your Church membership.

Simply read the Corporation By-Laws and agree to abide by them. Then fill out the registration form, and return it to the Secretary of the General Church, PO Box 743, Bryn Athyn, PA, USA 19009-0708.
