Seven Keys to Reading the Bible
< Back to Sacred Scripture in Life
1. Don’t read more at a time than you can make sense of. Find the amount of time and length of reading that works for you.
2. Pray for desire and inspiration to read.
3. Mark passages which are important to you. Consider keeping a journal and include quotes, thoughts, questions.
4. Look up puzzling terms and pursue the wider sense of stories or ideas.
5. Find ideal circumstances. What time of day and type of environment nurture your focus?
6. Follow your interests. What stories or questions are you most interested in?
7. Enjoy a sense of progress. Make a reading plan including familiar and unfamiliar stories.
