What does it mean to be Christian? Some would offer that this means holding to the man-made dogmas of faith only, or to particular interpretations of the Bible which are often claimed to be the Word of God Itself. But to be truly Christian means to worship Jesus Christ as the one God, and to live a life of love and faith according to His teachings. In this sense, the teachings of the New Church are truly Christian, and anyone who strives to know and worship the Lord becomes more and more a Christian every day.

Based on the Holy Bible, The New Church gains further inspiration and understanding through the teachings of 18th century scientist and theologian Emanuel Swedenborg. In his 35 volumes of theology, Swedenborg helps set forth the Lord's plan for a rebirth of Christianity, a clear vision of God in His own Word, and what that means in our lives.
