New Church doctine uses a variety of terms that are unique in themselves or used in a new way. Here we decode some for you:
Conjugial
Often confused with conjugal, conjugial (a Latin word) refers to a spiritual and heavenly love between a husband and wife who are joined in mind, body and spirit.
Use
Frequently used as a noun, especially in relation to one's purpose in life. You will hear New Church people referring to, ‘finding their use,’ and ‘being useful.’ More than an escape from laziness, use brings one's love and knowledge into life to serve the Lord and the neighbor.
Regeneration
This word is commonly used to refer to the process of spiritual growth.
Heavenly Doctrines
Thi term is commonly used in the New Church, and interchaged with, ‘The Writings,’ to refer to the Divinely inspired works of Emanuel Swedenborg.
