People who have had the near-death experience speak of seeing this being of light, which doesn’t hurt their eyes, but rather radiates pure wisdom and love. Swedenborg also talks about this in his description of heaven, calling this light the Spiritual Sun, and saying that this is the usual way God appears before all angels. Imagine the beautiful light of heaven shining down upon you, and that light is God’s very love and wisdom, filling you with warmth, love, knowledge and understanding. This light is always shining at about a 45 degree angle in the sky, in front of all. And so, when Jesus was talking of the angels with precious little children, he remarked, “See that you do not look down on one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven” (Matthew 18:10).
